Lobdell’s amazing new take on Kori and Jason
A heartfelt review on Lobdell’s new turn around for Red Hood and the Outlaw’s Starfire and Red Hood, and yes, its not what we expected it to be…

This may not be exactly the best issue of Red Hood and the Outlaws so far, but this personally is my favorite. Any critic of Red Hood and the Outlaws would have jumped at the opportunity to slam this issue, especially after reading the preview. I’ve heard sources mock this issue. They’ve mentioned that it must be full of sex and Kori wearing nothing but Jason’s shirt…and they couldn’t have been more wrong.
This issue was full of gentle and caring love of friends for each other. I applaud Scott Lobdell for successfully turning around this whole Starfire “fiasco” as others would have it, into something with meaning. He successfully attempted to show people the roots of Starfire, her heart, her soul, and her wisdom.

Those words tugged on my heartsrings a lot. I never knew words from a race driven by emotions could possibly fathom the art of letting go of one’s past. I was emotionally affected by this issue. Starfire has a way with words here, its as if she reaches out and talks to you herself, explaining to the reader her views on life…

This is the type of issue that make people who like to remember quotes actually remember them because Lobdell’s writing in this issue is that good. This is something I’m proud to have read, the first, second, third and nth time just to relive the love and affection between Jason and Kori.
And for those who were bummed about the loss of Dick in Kori’s life, don’t you worry, Lodbell finally regresses Kori into the time she was in love with Dick, and although she’s obviously still in love with him, its evident that she’s also still in love with her newfound independence as a woman which leads us to one of my favorite panels and quotes by princess Koriandr in this issue:

So yes, here it is ladies. Proof that Starfire is just as much as an independent woman as you and I are. It doesn’t matter if she wears tiny bikinis of just wants to have sex with guys, its how she likes to establish that this is her life, and that’s how she lives it.
On a minor note, we finally know why Jason wears a red bat insignia! I’ve been reading a lot of queries towards Scott Lobdell about Jason’s shirt, and why he insists on wearing a shirt that resembles his batfamily, even if he says he moved on from the ces-pit that is Gotham.

So now that we have tackled everything interesting about this topic, I’d like to share with you my newfound love for Jason and Kori and how I’d love them to be together. These panels won me over. Somehow seeing them showed me a picture of what an ideal relationship should be, or could be…

- I love the fact that Jason told Kori everything before she decided to give him her trust. I love the fact that they share such open communication. Open communication is something I see as a defining part of a relationship. I never saw Kori open up to Roy so quickly and neither did I see Jason that way with Roy too. These two share a silent spark…

- Ever the satirist, I love the fact that Lobdell made Jason identify himself with Kori. I love the fact that Lodbell told the readers through Jason’s tone that Kori was much more than what people thought she was…
As of Wednesday, I officially ship Jason and Kori. :)
